July newsletter

Thursday 2nd July 2020

I hope you and your family continue to be safe and well and coping with the difficult times. Following the easing of some of the restrictions I have seen more classic cars on the road and I know some car clubs have already started runs. In the next couple of weeks there are a few things happening.

ATTINGHAM PARK Thursday 9th July at 12 0’clock

As you probably know Attingham Park (the grounds) are open along with the take-away coffee shop and toilets! We thought it might be of interest to some members if we planned a visit with the MGs and enjoyed a walk around (at a distance) and then had a picnic. I know some of you may be still concerned about going out and that is completely understood but if you are interested we are suggesting 12 oclock at Attingham. You do need to pre-book the car park by going onto the “Attingham Park National Trust” website and clicking on “What’s on” this will then take you to the booking site for each day and time slots. You can book from Friday this week for Thursday next week . If you are a paid up NT member there is no cost but otherwise it will cost £10 each

There is a classic car meeting at Alderford Lake and all classics cars are welcome, if you take your car there is a £5 per car charge, if you simply want to look at the cars there is a £1 per person charge. You do not need to book and arrival time is 9.30am onwards.

We are hosting another Zoom Meeting on Sunday at 12.30pm and if you have been on before you will automatically receive a “link email” otherwise if you would like to join us send me an email. Apart from the normal chat I would like to hear your views on what we as a club should be doing for the rest of the season. I think it is unlikely we will be able to meet at the Fox and Hounds for some time so we do need to sort a programme of events. Please give this some thought before the Zoom Meeting.

I know we all receive lots of requests to support various charities but this is a little different and comes from one of our members Chris and Lesley Wilkins. Lesley is a type 1 diabetic and so in the most vulnerable group for COVID-19. To help others with diabetes she is undertaking the Million Step Challenge in July to help raise funds for Diabetes UK. If you could donate a few pounds that would be great.

Those who have been before will know this is an excellent week end and 15 couples have booked, if you are interested let Peter and Gill Allman know, there is no need for a deposit at the moment and obviously this is all dependent on the covid situation at the time.
