LOOKING BACK
The “Borders Run” was a great run organised by Paul and Sally, we followed as near as possible the English/Welsh border. Lots of roads that none of us have been on before, probably helped by them being bikers as well! Wonderful old-fashioned coffee stop which was the local post office and “everything else”. All of us crowded inside asking for coffee. The lady went into her kitchen, boiled a kettle and produced instant coffees which we drank in the garden, where we were joined by a friendly robin. We then carried on, passing through some very pretty villages and finishing at the Red Lion in Leintwardine where they looked after us very well.
Unfortunately, our concours evening was rather wet but considering how awful the weather was we had a really good turnout! We usually have the presentations outside and it is generally a bit chilly by the time they are made, but because of the rain we had it inside which made it a lot cosier.
Alan and Wendy’s run started off early for a Sunday, we were very lucky with blue skies all day. Our coffee stop was at Lake Brenig which has certainly grown since the first time we went. The lake now offers a range of activities with boats for hire, fishing, paddle boarding, etc. We even saw a dog standing on the front of a paddle board. From here we travelled over a wonderful mountain road which went on for miles with beautiful mountain scenery, finishing up at the Lakeside Golf club Montgomery for lunch; a very pretty setting with a lake and ducks and also fantastic views of the river. A great lunch stop with very friendly staff.
