LOOKING BACK

Our East Cheshire Border Tour organised by David and Ann, with some input from daughter Hayley, was an excellent day out. Twelve cars met in Kidsgrove where we were given our tour guides and sent on our way. The scenery was superb and quite different to our usual runs as we generally go into Wales or south Shropshire. We even had write-ups detailing various places we passed through or sights we could see such as Mow Cop, an ornamental castle folly. People were making the most of the weather as we saw sail boats out on Rudyard Lake. We then moved on to Blackshaw Moor with its rocky outcrops. Coffee and ice cream stop was at Blaze Farm, which is a working farm but has diversified into a place for visitors, with nature trails and a pottery studio where you can paint and decorate jugs, plates, etc. - not that we had time! The ice cream was a great hit and most of us indulged. On again through Macclesfield Forest where apparently there are red deer. However, they must have heard us coming and decided to hide. We finished at the Egerton Arms in Congleton where we were looked after very well. A brilliant day out.
